Kanthal A-1 is a ferritic iron-chromium-aluminium alloy (FeCrAl alloy) for use at temperatures up to 1400°C (2550°F). The alloy is characterized by high resistivity and very good oxidation resistance. For our purposes, it is used for making coils for rebuildable atomizers.
|Max Operating Temp|
|0.17 Ω / in.||1500°C||1400°C|
|26||0.40 mm||0.27 Ω / in.|
|28||0.32 mm||0.44 Ω / in.|
|30||0.25 mm||0.70 Ω / in.|
|32||0.20 mm||1.09 Ω / in.|
|34||0.16 mm||1.76 Ω / in.|
Resistance - The factors that affect resistance are:
Diameter: The thinner the wire (higher gauge number), the higher the resistance per foot. The thicker the wire (lower gauge number), the lower the resistance.
Length: The longer the wire, the higher the overall resistance. The shorter the wire, the lower the overall resistance.
